Petal Collector unlocks when you find all vignettes in Forever Ago. The completion route contains seven optional vignettes: two around Karl's Pump 'n' Mart, two around Highway Star Diner, and three at Captain Marley & The Buccaneers' Retreat. Complete each memory's nearby petal search and finish the revealed vignette instead of treating the first petal you find as a completed collectible.
The achievement's name can be misleading. It does not ask you to pick every ordinary flower or fill the journal with seven attractive photographs. Petals are part of the process that reveals a vignette. Glimpse Into The Past is the smaller milestone for finding one vignette; Petal Collector requires the entire seven-vignette set.
Understand what counts as one completed vignette
A vignette is a distinct optional memory you uncover through the petal interaction. You can encounter a petal, see the memory name or progress, and still have more to do locally. Follow the remaining petal trail until the memory becomes available, then complete the interaction that reveals it.
Think in terms of finished memories rather than loose petals. Different vignettes use different nearby petal groups, so a large number of petals collected in one place does not replace a missing vignette somewhere else. The achievement condition is the complete set of memories, not an interchangeable currency total.
| Location section | Vignettes in the completion route | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Karl's Pump 'n' Mart | Two | Finish both nearby memory searches before leaving |
| Highway Star Diner | Two | Complete both memories independently of the diner story photograph |
| Captain Marley & The Buccaneers' Retreat | Three | Finish all three before concentrating on the boat departure |
This table is the quickest diagnostic tool if Petal Collector remains locked. A two-two-three regional checklist is more useful than remembering that you found “a lot of petals” while exploring.
Keep optional vignettes separate from story flashbacks
The road trip also contains required photographs and playable memories used by the main story. Those scenes can make it feel as though every flashback you have seen is part of the Petal Collector set. Keep the optional petal-led vignettes on their own checklist.
For example, the Highway Star Diner has a window photograph connected to progression. Completing that scene does not prove you finished both optional vignette searches around the diner. At the resort, the boat and island sequence also serves the story; it is separate from your three optional memory checks in the surrounding exploration area.
A practical note should identify the vignette you completed, not merely say “flashback watched.” If you write only a generic memory note, you may later count a required story scene as an optional collectible and overlook one of the seven searches.
The same distinction applies to the journal. Keeping a photograph in Alfred's album preserves a chosen picture, but it is not a replacement for finding the full vignette set. Do not use the number of album pages as your Petal Collector tracker.
Karl's Pump 'n' Mart: finish the first two memories
The early gas-station section contains Fun & Colors and The World's Largest Mosaic Pumpkin on the seven-vignette route. Explore the grounds around the store, not only the shopping aisles. Petals and their memory prompts provide the signal that you are working on a vignette rather than a required supply item.

Fun & Colors is associated with the play area around the swing structure. Use the visual landmark to recognize the memory search when you find it, then follow the local petal progress. Do not move straight from the first petal back to Milton's counter without completing the remaining nearby steps.
The World's Largest Mosaic Pumpkin is a separate vignette. The name overlaps with the later mosaic-pumpkin achievement, but the tasks are different. This early vignette belongs to the petal-led memory set; World's Largest Mosaic Pumpkin Collection asks for Audrey's mosaic pumpkins at home during the epilogue.
Keep two separate marks for the gas-station memories. If Glimpse Into The Past unlocks after the first one, continue the second search. The smaller achievement confirms that you found a vignette, not that you have cleared the entire location or the full game.
Finish shopping without forgetting the outdoor search
Karl's Pump 'n' Mart has several attention-grabbing achievement tasks: purchases, Milton's speeches, a selfie, and rest opportunities. A successful store visit can therefore feel complete even when one nearby vignette has been missed.
Before leaving the section, check the memory list independently of the shopping checklist. You should have two completed vignette entries, not just two petals or two photographs. If one memory name remains uncertain, inspect the grounds and available paths while you can still explore them.
You do not need to abandon the main objective to organize this. Explore the exterior, handle the local petal searches, and return to finish the store interactions. The important habit is keeping the categories separate, because an achievement popup for shopping or a selfie can distract you from an unfinished memory.
Highway Star Diner: find The Morning After
The Morning After is one of the two vignette searches around the Highway Star Diner section. Look around the exterior and motel-side surroundings while working through the location. The memory progress appears as a distinct petal task, so follow that rather than treating every nearby object as part of the main restaurant objective.

The diner area contains ordinary cars, fences, trees, seating, and paths. Use those landmarks to orient yourself, but verify progress through the memory interaction itself. Standing at the correct general location is not the same as collecting every petal needed there.
The main objectives send you to Audrey's flowers, the jukebox, the waitress, and the reserved booth. Those tasks can move the narrative along before you have finished the optional memory search. Check The Morning After explicitly before concentrating only on the next story photograph.
Complete Seeking Shelter as a separate diner vignette
Seeking Shelter is the other vignette in the diner section. It uses its own petal search and should receive its own completed check. Finding The Morning After does not imply that every diner memory is finished.
The nearby steps and raised outdoor seating area are useful visual reference points when recognizing the search. Follow the petals locally and check the remaining progress rather than guessing that a single visible petal is the whole task.
If you have finished the main diner story and Petal Collector is still incomplete later, the two diner memories are a sensible part of your checklist to review. Do not assume that the required window flashback supplied them both. The achievement needs the optional vignette set, which is a separate kind of progress.
At the end of this section, your route should contain four completed vignettes: two from the gas station and two from the diner. This is a useful midpoint check because the remaining three belong to the larger resort area.
Resort: complete the final three vignettes
Captain Marley & The Buccaneers' Retreat contains Farewell Forever, Marley!, It's Tradition, and Responsible Adults on the completion route. The abandoned resort has several other collectible and activity goals, so give each of these memory names a separate entry before you start exploring.

As you move around the resort, follow each local petal search to completion. Seeing one memory prompt beside a building does not mean that all three have been found. The searches occupy different parts of the available environment and can be interleaved with the main work of finding tools and opening locked spaces.
The bolt cutter helps you progress through the resort's access points, but obtaining it is not itself a vignette completion. Likewise, the arcade machine, mascot tickets, written history, and bobblehead belong to other tasks. Use the memory names to prevent those discoveries from obscuring an unfinished petal trail.
Before taking the boat toward the island, check all three resort vignette entries. The waterfront objective gives the chapter a strong sense of forward momentum, so this is the appropriate time to make sure the optional memory searches have actually been finished.
Use memory names to find the missing part of the set
If Petal Collector stays locked, compare the seven names rather than wandering randomly through the most recent location:
- Fun & Colors.
- The World's Largest Mosaic Pumpkin.
- The Morning After.
- Seeking Shelter.
- Farewell Forever, Marley!.
- It's Tradition.
- Responsible Adults.
A missing name identifies a region to review. An uncertain completion identifies a local search you may have begun but not finished. These are more useful distinctions than simply recording the number of pictures you took near the petals.
Do not assume that a memory name appearing on screen proves completion. Progress can be displayed while the search is still active. Confirm that you followed the remaining petals and completed the revealed memory interaction before removing that name from the missing list.
Troubleshoot petals, photographs, and achievement progress separately
If the vignette has not appeared, continue checking the nearby petal progress. If it has appeared but you have not completed the memory interaction, finish that stage. If all seven entries seem finished but the achievement remains locked, review the uncertain entries first rather than adding unrelated scenery photographs.
Photography is part of Forever Ago's memory presentation, but Picture Perfect's 50-photo total is not the Petal Collector condition. You can take many ordinary photos without finding a missing vignette. Conversely, a completed vignette does not automatically prove you have reached a photo milestone.
Chapter select is available after finishing the story and can help you revisit the region associated with a missing memory. However, do not assume an unfinished petal search in a replay has completed merely because you remember finding some of its petals in an earlier session. Read the current local progress and finish the interaction shown in that scene.
Confirm the complete set before ending the search
The final check is straightforward: seven completed vignettes in the two-two-three distribution, followed by the platform confirmation for Petal Collector. Glimpse Into The Past is useful as an early signal, but it only covers the first vignette and should not end the search.
Keep the memory checklist until the achievement appears. It lets you distinguish a missed location from an unfinished local petal group and prevents ordinary flowers, story flashbacks, journal pictures, or mosaic pumpkins from being counted as substitutes for a vignette.
